WEEKI WACHEE – Weeki Wachee’s first-year Head Coach Jacob Gray needs your help.

Jacob Gray

Gray, fresh from his 3-7 season with the US-19 gridiron program, was selected as one nine of WFLA News Channel 8’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers High School Coach of the Week selections by sports anchor Dan Lucas.

Gray, the former special teams assistant at Jacksonville-Bolles turned Hornets skipper, was feted following his team’s Week 5 come-from-behind win over Central, 34-33. The triumph snapped a dismal 13-game losing skid.

As a result, Gray joined Wesley Chapel-Cypress Creek’s Mike Johnson, Palmetto’s Dave Marino, Holiday-Anclote’s Matt Kingsley, Bradenton-Southeast’s Rashad West, Bradenton-Bayshore’s John Biezuns, Inverness-Citrus’ Nate Varndaore, Lakeland-Lake Gibson’s Doug DeMyer, and Valrico-Bloomingdale’s Max Warner as the Bucs’ High School Coach of the Week winners.

To date, each winner has received a grant for $2,000 to help maintain and upgrade its football program.

The Bucs are asking fans to vote until noon on Friday, Nov. 11, for its High School Coach of the Year.

Fans are allowed one vote per day.

The selected coach will earn an additional award for the Buccaneers.
