Hernando High senior slot back Ygenio Booker was a one-man highlight reel for the Leopards. The 5-foot-11, 192-pounder rushed seven times for 92 yards and scored two touchdowns, snared a game-high five passes for 91 yards, including a TD grab, and added a 28-yard kickoff return in a sterling 211-yard all-purpose effort in Friday night’s Class 5A, Region II quarterfinal loss to visiting Green Cove Springs-Clay, 41-37.
Hernando High junior Bronson Tafelski collected seven solo tackles, while adding four assists for 11 combined tackles against the Blue Devils.
Hernando senior placekicker Luke D’Ambrosio converted four point-afters in four attempts and connected on a 26-yard field goal to finish with a career-high 58 points this season. In all, D’Ambrosio buried 46-of-50 PATs and 4-of-5 FGs. He just missed tying the school record of 47 point-afters for a single season held by Brandon Browning in 1997.
